As part of our ambition to develop and explore new research and educational opportunities on an interdisciplinary basis we invested £100m into our biggest ever recruitment scheme, 250 Great Minds.
Launched in 2014 we aimed to recruit 250 internationally competitive future academic leaders from across core disciplines to find solutions to key national and global challenges, particularly in health, energy, food, water, culture, high-value engineering, and cities and sustainable societies.
Our sector-leading programme offers a five-year development scheme allowing early career researchers to establish themselves in their academic discipline. Successful Fellowships lead to a permanent Associate Professor post.
We have appointed many outstanding individuals to the programme, including existing staff as well as many new individuals from across the globe. We hope that all of our successful candidates will be in post by the start of the 2017/18 academic year.
We have already seen some exceptional work, making major contributions to our academic performance and standing. Our University Academic Fellows will continue to capitalise upon our distinctive challenge-led research to drive interdisciplinary research, create new funding opportunities and deliver impact.
Our recruitment has been a success. At the moment, we are not planning to recruit another cohort, but we may advertise one-off roles on our careers website.
