The Faculty of Environment, consisting of the School of Earth and Environment, School of Geography and The Institute for Transport Studies, is a world-leading, problem-based and interdisciplinary grouping of Schools with an established international reputation who have exciting visions for addressing global environmental and societal challenges in an integrated manner.
The Faculty’s research and taught portfolio cover all aspects of the Earth, its environment and the way humans interact with it. We have an excellent track-record of success across EU funding programmes, the UK Research Councils, industrial collaborations and government agencies (globally and locally). The Faculty of Environment leads major cross-campus interdisciplinary centres including Water@leeds, major Climate Change Centres and a Sustainable Cities Group, and strongly contributes to cross-campus Energy, Culture and Food research topics from multiple perspectives. The Faculty hosts major national centres in Transport, Atmospheric Science, Climate Change Economics and Policy, Rainforest Ecology, Consumer Data, Polar Observation & Modelling and in Tectonics.
