Climate Change

Climate change is widely recognised as a global scientific grand challenge, but predicting and assessing its nature and extent, as well as mitigating and adapting to the numerous and widespread impacts, is dependent on advances in both the physical and social sciences.

There must be, for example, accurate measurements of the physical environment; robust models on which predictions can be based, and a sound understanding of both socio-economic forces and human behaviour.  Climate change is already a focus of excellent research not only across the School of Earth and Environment (SEE) and the Faculty of Environment, but across the University as a whole, attracting significant national and international esteem.
