The global financial crisis has transformed business and work for millions around the world. The University of Leeds is bringing together a team of world-class researchers to investigate the dynamics, contradictions and challenges of this ‘new’ world of work, organization and enterprise.
The team are studying the increasingly precarious nature of work in globalised economies, the growth of multi-national enterprises and how these huge corporations link and interact with societies and economies. Also coming under scrutiny is the professionalization of different occupational groups, and the increased use and management of information and information systems. Some research is underpinned by the use of so-called ‘big data’, an emerging area of excellence at the University.
