Robotic and autonomous systems are revolutionising our lives, the economy and human society, and the University of Leeds is driving innovation in this growing area of technology. Whether it’s designing miniature devices to assist abdominal surgical procedures or building robots to explore hitherto unseen chambers in the Great Pyramids of Egypt, we are recognised as being at the forefront of robot design and construction.

A new EPSRC National Facility for Innovative Robotic Systems offers us a world-leading range of advanced equipment, providing our researchers with the latest 3D-printing technology and high-precision assembly systems. Centred in engineering, but stretching through computing science to psychology, biological sciences and medicine, our diverse research strengths mean we are able to bring together a wealth of expertise and resources to exploit the potential of advanced robotic technologies.
